About me
My name is Sarah and I have been an occupational therapist since January 2022, when I graduated from the Haute École Léonard de Vinci.
With four years of experience in geriatrics in two residential care homes in Brussels, I practise with passion, care, attentive listening and empathy. Today, my main interest is paediatrics, and I want to deepen my skills and train further in this field, which has so much to teach. It is a stimulating world, full of discoveries, and I am very excited to explore it.
To offer quality support, I plan to train regularly, particularly in neurodevelopmental disorders in children and teenagers such as ASD, DCD and ADHD, and in handwriting, sensory integration and other areas relevant to my practice.
I work with children and teenagers in the motor, cognitive, sensory, psycho-emotional, autonomy and independence, educational and social areas. I also support families and collaborate with the other healthcare professionals around the child or teenager.
The disorders I treat
I offer care adapted for children and teenagers with the following neurodevelopmental disorders:
- Learning disorders (all “dys” disorders)
- Motor disorders (fine and gross)
- Sensory or perceptual disorders
- Cognitive disorders (memory, understanding, planning…)
- Visuospatial disorders (space, position of objects…)
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), with or without hyperactivity
- Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Developmental coordination disorder (DCD)
My therapeutic approach
Support begins with a conversation with the family and the child or teenager, to better understand their background, needs and daily life. This first step is followed by occupational therapy assessment sessions, which explore motor, cognitive and relational skills. The information gathered then serves as the basis for setting precise occupational therapy goals and building a personalised care plan.
Occupational therapy sessions draw on a variety of methods chosen according to the child or teenager’s needs and interests: playful, motor or cognitive activities, among others. These experiences aim to encourage learning and development in a welcoming, reassuring setting. My goal? To create an environment where your child can thrive and gain independence, while supporting parents in their daily role.
I look forward to meeting and supporting you!
Free the potential of children, and you will transform the world with it.
